away from home

Freezing weather, chilly atmosphere, cold breeze name it. Colorful lights can now be seen almost everywhere. The presence of Christmas tree, Santa Claus figure in malls, hung bright decorations, and joyous songs that lingers around significantly speaks of the big celebration that is just few days ahead of us.

Christmas time is here again. And being away from home for the second time make me wish am home. Yes, how I wish I would be home. I miss the mami at Plaza Burgos, the smell of freshly bake pandesal, and waking up early for the nine mornings. Likewise I cherished the choir singing, the activities with the youth, laughter’s, chatting and hanging out with family and friends.

I may be far away from home yet the festivity of this holiday season continues in my thought and in my heart.

May each and every one of us fall unto a wonderful Christmas!

Have a happy and blessed father’s day!

Since I’m not good in praying I copied prayer from Joanna Fuchs which I find completely inspiring. For my father and to the entire father out there as well from the deepest of me I sincerely pray;

Lord, please bless our fathers,
these men who mean so much to us,
who are greatly responsible
for who we are and who we are becoming.
Bless them for having the courage
to do what’s necessary to keep us out of trouble,
for making us do the right thing,
for helping us build our character,
even when it makes us angry;
and bless them for pushing us to do our best,
even when they just want to love us.
Bless our fathers for being our protectors,
for leading us through stormy times to safety,
for making us believe that everything will be all right
and for making it so.
Bless our fathers for quietly making a living
to provide for those they love most,
for giving us food, clothing, shelter
and the other material things that really matter,
for unselfishly investing time and money in us
that they could have spent on themselves.
Bless our fathers, Lord,
for saving some energy for fun,
for leading us on adventures
to explore the outer reaches of ourselves,
for making us laugh,
for being our playmates and our friends.
Bless them for being our secure foundation, our rock,
for holding on tight to us...until it’s time to let us go.
Lord, bless these men we look up to,
our role models, our heroes,
our fathers.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Long live! Thank you very much.

….for mothers

Salutes, thumbs up, high-five, raise the floor, hats off to all mothers! Young mother, single mother, irresponsible mother, and all mother of any kind. To my mother most especially.. with all respect and love, have a wonderful and happy mother’s day!

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
-Washington Irving (1783-1859)

Early months

January, the beginning month of the year where resolutions starts and some broke it even before the month ends. And before this month ends, birthday greetings to all who were born on January! May you have more bottles to pop up and more candles to blow!

In school records you will be the oldest if you were born this month or February. You will be teased by your classmates as manong or manang. That’s why some are complaining why they’re being born on the earliest months as what they say they easily get old.

Even I who was born in March got annoyed during elementary years that I ended up hating my birth month. Why such that I add year so early? I am envious of those December borne then.

I could still remember one (a boy) of my classmates who leads teasing me being the oldest in class then I have known that he was born just a day ahead of me. (Good heavens, ang sarap sapakin ang mukha nyang saksakan ng kapal! Mas older pala siya, a day nga lang. At least he’s older pa rin than me.) Thankful I’ve done no trouble even though my teeth were clenching and fists are about to give a face bow. Funny I got my self composure. I was thinking now how I managed the situation.

Well that was just one of my irritating moments in my elementary and changes came over years. I love much my birth month now. And I don’t care if those people come to tease me again. I might give them already that spoiled face bow. Nah, just kidding! Peace!

Welcome 2008

How’s everybody doing this year? Did you face the year right? Or welcome the new year frowning or with an ear-filled smile?

I have known that a lot welcomes the year with a no good health condition, some lost lives, and some give lives. Others might happy and some lonely.

For the believers surely the year was greeted with faith and hope. For the achievers you might be working tightly on your goals again. For the losers try playing the game again and make sure to win this time.

As of me, last year was a good one for me. Although it was a struggling year, it was victorious somehow. And for this year of the rat welcomes me with a cold weather. My allergic nose getting worse and my head got affected due to the super coldness. It’s really cold out here. So far I never get sick here yet, only home sick. (wink!) Thankful I am still kicking here which is a good start for ’08.

On what way we may face the year, I join you with good faith, hopeful mind and a prayerful heart. Have a peaceful, fruitful and successful 2008 everyone! Take care too.
